Right now many of us would appreciate earning some extra cash from home, or the ability to make money from any location. It's very possible and there are lots of people who run successful businesses remotely. It's a great time to start focusing on ways to earn money from home, here are 5 simple ideas.

1. Selling unwanted goods

This is the quickest and most straightforward way to make easy money from home. Unwanted goods can be new or used and include shoes, trainers, leather goods, gadgets, clothes and unused skincare products.

Earlier this year I made a quick £500 selling trainers, shoes and clothes all in good condition and worn. A friend of mine made £1,548.68, selling unused skincare products, clothes, and other items.

Your unwanted goods no matter how random can be sold online or via an app. I'm a regular eBay user but there are plenty of options available including Facebook Marketplace and eBid. If you have items you haven't worn or used in a year - sell them. If you're still hesitating the next question to ask yourself is 'do they bring me joy'? If the answer is no, sell them.

2. Freelance online work

Depending on your skillset there are many online freelance roles available. If you have fabulous organisational skills, can slay in Excel, you should consider Virtual PA or Virtual Assistance roles. Both of which are becoming very popular, offer lots of flexibility with both U.K. and global opportunities. If you're a Graphic designer, Project Manager or you can offer a skill online. You can sell your skill via a market place like Fiverr, Upwork etc.

3. Freelance skilled-trade work

We all need skilled Tradespeople at some point in our life. Freelancing is a great way to boost your cash flow if you're a skilled plumber, handyman, electrician, gardener etc. There are lots of well-known trade websites and apps including Checkatrade, Rated People, Trustatrader etc. Get yourself signed up, offer introductory discounts and provide an amazing service.

4. Selling white-label goods

If you would like to sell a product but don't have a product to sell, you can create your own via white labelling. White label goods enable anyone to produce a branded product. It's a very common business strategy, and is essentially attaching your brand to an existing product. The products could include candles, phone covers, nutrition and skincare products and electrical gadgets. To be successful you need to be able to identify your target audience, have a specific niche, know that your product is viable, and outshine your competition. Check out my next post on Business Planning - it will help with your initial planning.

5. Renting your spare room

This is a great option if you have a room to spare and are comfortable having someone in your space and home. This is something I've done in the past - you can rent to students, health workers or anyone looking for a room. You're also allowed to earn up to £7,500 per annum before declaring to the taxman.

If you want to generate cash from your spare room but would rather not have someone living with you full time, you could also consider short-term lets.

Making money from home has never been easier.
